Tutorial ~ Easter Basket

Today I'm sharing my tutorial for the basket I posted HERE  & see picture below ~ obviously this basket could be used for any occasion, not just Easter.

Step 1

First thing you need is a piece of 6 x 6" cardstock.  it is possible to do this project with DSP but I prefer cardstock to make it a bit stronger.  My personal preference when making a project such as this is to use "Naturals Ivory"

Step 2

Score your cardstock at 2" on all four sides.

Step 3

Cut up to the score lines on two opposite sides.

 
 

Step 4 ~ Optional

Round the corners on the four corner squares of your cardstock.

Step 5 ~ Optional

Add DSP or any other effect to the cardstock. (DSP should be cut to 1 7/8" square x 8 pieces, and round the appropriate corners, if you have done so on the cardstock)  Please Note : if you are using DSP that has a pattern, please check that you line it up correctly so that the pattern goes in the right direction when the basket is put together.

Step 6

Put on one of the central sides of the box, add glue dots or sticky stripe to the bottom corners of the sections either side and have them meet in the middle of the center section.

Step 7 

Repeat for other side


Step 8 ~ Optional

If you want to add a handle, then cut a piece of cardstock 7" long and add DSP or other effect as desired.

Step 9 ~ Optional

Put the handle between the folds of the sides and use your Paper piercer to add a hole ~ try and make sure this goes through the sides that you've glued to the center as well as the handle.

Step 10 ~ Optional

Add your brad to hold everything and look pretty.

On my original basket I added a flower before I added the brad, but the, but other than that, the process was the same.

Well, I hope this was clear and helpful for those of you that would like to make one of these.  As you can see from my original posting, this basket will hold quite a lot bearing in mind it started out as only 6x6" piece of cardstock. 

If you would like to make one smaller or larger, then just make sure that you score the cardstock so that you are left with 9 equally sized squares, ie, for larger, try 9 x 9" scored every 3" on each side or for smaller, try 3 x 3" scored 1" on each side.

Easter Projects ~ No. 6

Hello, hope you are having a lovely Good Friday, we are all being very mellow and lazy here, which is lovely.

My share for you today is another Easter card.

It's a box card and uses both "Easter Blossoms" and "Everybunny" Easter themed stamp sets. 

It's quite easy to make, I cut out a circle in the centre of the "Lucky Limeade" piece, I used this to draw, very lightly in pencil, the circle on the "Whisper White" piece so that I knew where to stamp my main image.

Once all the stamping and colouring was done I scored both pieces of cardstock at 1cm on both ends and stuck them together.

Whilst the two main stamp sets used are themed for Easter, both of these sets have wonderfully images that can be used all year round, I'll be sharing some projects showcasing their versatility over the coming weeks.

Easter Projects ~ No. 5

Sorry that I haven't posted the tutorial that I promised a couple of days ago, I've been busy and haven't quite finished taking the photos yet, but I should have that and an Easter Basket tutorial up within the next few days.

Today's post is an Easter card that also showcases the "Faux Mother of Pearl" technique

You can quite see the technique on the card above but if you look at the image below, you will see the shiny 'mother of Pearl' effect that is so gorgeous and so simple to do

I used "Shimmery White" cardstock, but you can do this effect on "Whisper White" too.    Tools for the job?  Well, apart from the cardstock you need some "Frost White Shimmer Paint", a non-porous surface and an old carrier bag ~ go on, admit it, your intrigued, so if you would like me to demonstrate this technique to you and a group of your friends, why don't you get in contact and arrange a Workshop with me, I promise you, you'll be amased how simple this is and you'll have fun too!

Easter Projects ~ No.4

Well, I'm all behind today but I did just want to really quickly pop in and share with you a little Easter project for those who would rather not give chocolate on the day.

The ribbon on the side opens up to reveal a section where you can put a gift card or money.

"Sale-a-bration" ends today ~ last look

Hi there, hope you are having a lovely Saturday.

Today I will be sharing the last lot of projects I've made using the exclusive products you can get for free as part of this years "Sale-a-bration" event.

 

These two cards are basically the same, the only real difference is that on the top card I used the "Postage Stamp" punch and on the bottom the "1 1/4" Square" punch.  The card blanks for these are 2/3rd of a sheet of A4 "Confetti Cream" cardstock folded in half.  Cards this size fit into a standard business envelope.

The next couple of cards are Easter cards, which I am waaaay behind on!

The "Everyday Enchantment" DSP is perfect for Easter projects.

On both of these cards I used the large image from "Creative Elements" stamp set as a background stamp.

This next card has a very simple colour palette being just Black, White & Red. This uses the "Fresh Vintage" stamp set from the "Sale-a-bration" collection.

Just to add some interest, I added a string of pearls to underline the sentiment and also on the centre of the butterfly that I cut out using "Beautiful Wings" embosslit and the "Everyday Enchantment" DSP.

... and finally,

A celebration card using the "Outlined Occasions" stamp set, which is another "Sale-a-bration" option.

"Sale-a-bration" card

Hi,

2nd post of the day and I'm back with another, very simple, "Sale-a-bration" card.

Now as you can see it is a very simple card, but I wanted to share this one with you as I thought you might find the scallop section interesting.

I've cut up into the centre of the scallop circle which creates separate 'petals'.  Unfortunately this photo doesn't shown the dimension I got when I then curled them up,  I also put holes into the larger scallop for additional interest.  I just used my paper piecing tool & mat pack for this.

Oh, and this card uses 2 different options within the "Sale-a-bration" selection, the DSP and the stamp set "Elementary Elegance", which is gorgeous by the way.
