Cards for Servicemen

Morning,

Some of you may remember that in September I showed a card that I made to be included in a little batch I was trying put together to send to a charity that sends cards to various scary places that our service personnel are based so that they have cards that they can send home to their loved ones.  (see HERE for previous post).  I stated that I wanted to do around 30 and I did it - yay!

In my previous post I also mentioned that the cards couldn't have glitter on, well my clever little up-line, Sarah-Jane found out why this is.  Apparently, glitter, even the tiniest amounts, really shows up through night vision goggles - who knew!   I bet you didn't realise that crafty blogs could be educational as well!  lol

You can find out more about this charity HERE and the various way you can help.

I know that sending a few cards is not much considering the sacrifice those young men and women are making for us, but if being able to send a card to a love one makes home feel a little bit closer then that's something.

11 11 11 ~ we must never forget!

take care, and remember to hug your loved ones, some people no longer have that choice.

Morning,

Hope you and your family had a good weekend and a fun and safe Bonfire Night. Me?, I didn't go out all weekend as I'm terrified of fireworks after being hurt by one as a child but it gave me a great excuse to sit at my crafting desk so it was a pretty good weekend for me too!

Today's share is another card where the fold is the star.
Flat on craft mat

Upright, they remind me of Tie Fighters from Star Wars!
I used the "Flirtatious" Speciality DSP, which is just lovely and the coordinating stamp set "Delicate Doilies", the images of which are just so pretty.

I also did one using a predominately "Wisteria Wonder" sheet from the same DSP.

For the ribbon on this one, I used "Whisper White" 1/4" grosgrain and dyed it using the "Wisteria Wonder" ink.
You start with a 12" x 4" strip of DSP and the finished card is 4" x 4",  so you can get 3 of these from each sheet of 12" x 12", so great if you want to make a stack of cards quickly, maybe for post 'event' thank yous or as little invites.  I attached a piece of "Whisper White" on the back of the paper for any message, sentiment etc.

Hope you like them... take care xx

Countdown to Christmas ~ Wk 11

Hello again,

A really quick share with you today.

Fancy Fold card

This is a fancy star fold card that is really easy to do from 1 sheet of 12" DSP. I used "Holly Berry Bouquet" speciality paper for mine.

Close up of the some of the detail, I used a couple of mini tags punched using the Jewellery tag punch

and when the card is opened...

I will put together a tutorial on how to fold this card as soon as life allows :o) but in the meantime, if you would like me to come to your home and demo this card, (or anything else pretty paper related),  to you and your friends, please do not hesitate to get in contact.

take care...  xx
