Special 80th birthday card

A couple of weeks ago it was my Uncle Bob's 80th birthday, generally I don't send too many cards to the men in my family but as it was such a special birthday obviously I had to send him a little something to mark such a great landmark birthday.

 

I made an easel card and used the fabulous "Twitterpated" designer series paper, (DSP), this has to be one of the best value DSP's as it has great designs for men, as you can see from this card, but it also has great feminine designs too so you get a lot more choices when using it and therefore defiantly one to buy if you are on a limit budget.

I used "Perfect Pennants" die circular section of the rosette and the "Timeless Type" dies to cut out the numbers. You can't really see it from this photo, but I added Crystal Effects to the numbers to make them all shiny.

I made the layered stars with a star punch I had in my stash, I cut all four stars with it and then trimmed down the Lucky Limeade ones so they would sit nicely over the Basic Grey ones to give a bit of added dimension and interest.

The great thing about easel cards is they sit up proud when you display them, but, depending on how much you put on them, they fold relatively flat for posting.

Cute "Balloon" birthday cards

Hope you are having a lovely Saturday.

My share for you today are a couple of cute little 4" x 4" birthday cards.  I really like this size, I think it is about as small as you can go for an actual card, anything smaller than this and really you are into note card/gift tag territory.

I threaded some ruffled ribbon through the holes in one of the circle pieces from the "perfect Pennants" die.  I think that maybe this would work better with slightly thinner ribbon, but as the ribbon is, by it's very nature, rufflie' I quite like it.

I also used the solid balloon image from the  "Up, Up & Away" stamp set, which is an adorable stamp set and so bright and jolly and perfect for cards during the summer. The above photo shows the card in greater detail and shows up the little cloud images, which are so sweet.

Playing with the new products

Hello there,

Hope you are well and were about to take advantage of the very warm weather we've been having, personally, I don't like the heat, much prefer the days where you have to wrap up warm and from the weather reports, those days are just round the corner - yay! well, for me anyway.

Today's share is another card we made when I visited up upline Sarah- Jane  a couple of weeks ago when we where playing with some of the fabulous new products in the 2011/12 Idea's book & Catalogue.

It was made using two of the new 'In Colors' ; namely, "Pool Party" & "Calypso Coral" which work perfectly together.  If you are every not sure what colours to put together you should defiantly invest in a 'Color Coach' which has all the current colours detailed with suggestions on creative combinations so you are never without ides about what colour goes with what.  I love it as it gives colour combo's that I would have never thought about for myself in a million years but you trust the suggestion, give it a go and create something fabulous.

Countdown to Christmas ~ Wk 7

A very quick 'Countdown to Christmas' post today as there is so much to chat about due to the launch of the new catalogue and the special offer if you sign up to be a demonstrator this month, so lets get straight to it.

My project today is a card that my lovely up-line Sarah-Jane made when we got together a couple of weeks ago to play with the lovely new goodies in the new catalogue.  (another reason to be a demonstrator, you get your hands on new products before they are launched, so you can have a good old play ~ yay!)
